For an extra moist cake, brush the cooled cake layers with simple syrup before frosting. To prevent the cake from sticking, line the bottom of the pans with parchment paper rounds in addition to greasing and flouring. If you don't have cake flour, you can make your own by measuring out 2 cups of all-purpose flour, removing 4 tablespoons, and then adding 4 tablespoons of cornstarch. Sift together several times.
