Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Brown the venison in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. This will help to achieve a beautiful sear and develop deep flavor. (10-15 minutes)

03

Step

In the bottom of your slow cooker, layer the diced celery, chopped onion, minced garlic, and fresh parsley. (5 minutes)

04

Step

Nestle the browned venison on top of the vegetable medley. (2 minutes)

05

Step

Season generously with salt, freshly ground black pepper, dried oregano, and dried basil. (1 minute)

06

Step

Pour in the tomato sauce, dry red wine, and water. (1 minute)

07

Step

Cover and cook on Low for 8-10 hours, or on High for 4-5 hours, until the venison is incredibly tender and easily shreds with a fork.

For an even richer flavor, consider adding a bay leaf or a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar to the slow cooker.
If you prefer a thicker stew, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water to form a slurry. Stir this into the stew during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
Serve this delectable venison stew with crusty bread for soaking up the flavorful sauce, or over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes.
