Follow The Directions

01

Step

Activate the Yeast (5 minutes): In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and pickle juice. Allow to stand until the yeast softens and bubbles begin to form.

02

Step

Combine Ingredients (5-6 minutes): Add flour, cheddar cheese, pickles, olive oil, and dill to the yeast mixture. Mix on medium speed until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

03

Step

Prepare Slow Cooker (2 minutes): Coat a slow cooker insert generously with cooking spray. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in the slow cooker. Sprinkle the top with sea salt.

04

Step

First Rise (1 hour 30 minutes): Drape a thin kitchen towel, cheesecloth, or paper towel over the slow cooker opening before adding the lid. This will prevent moisture from dripping onto the bread. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

05

Step

Second Rise (1 hour 15 minutes): Turn the slow cooker on Low for 15 minutes, then turn it off and let the dough rise for another 1 hour and 15 minutes.

06

Step

Cook on High (1 hour 30 minutes): Cook the bread on High for 1 hour and 30 minutes.

07

Step

Cook on Low (15 minutes): Reduce heat to Low and cook until the bottom of the bread is nicely browned.

08

Step

Cool and Serve (20 minutes): Let the bread cool completely before slicing. Place the loaf on its side or on a wire rack to prevent the bottom from becoming soggy. Enjoy!

For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the dough.
If you don't have a stand mixer, you can knead the dough by hand for about 8-10 minutes.
The cooking time may vary depending on your slow cooker, so keep an eye on the bread during the final stages.
Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or herbs to customize the flavor.

The bread was a little too salty for my taste. I'll reduce the sea salt next time.
