For a nuttier flavor, try adding 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans. If you don't have raisins on hand, dried cranberries or chopped dates make a great substitute. Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For a richer flavor, use brown butter instead of regular softened butter. Feel free to adjust the amount of cloves to your liking. If you are not a fan, you can omit it completely, or add a pinch of nutmeg for a different warm spice note.

May 5, 2024The cookies were a bit too cakey for my liking. Next time, I'll reduce the amount of flour slightly.
