For a richer flavor, use homemade pumpkin puree. Adjust the amount of brown sugar to your liking. Maple syrup or agave nectar can also be used as substitutes. If you don't have pumpkin pie spice on hand, mix together cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. For a protein boost, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. To make this smoothie even more decadent, add a tablespoon of almond butter or cashew butter.
