For a richer flavor, brown the sausage in the pot before adding the other ingredients. If you prefer a thicker soup, mash some of the potatoes against the side of the pot before adding the beans and pasta. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. You may want to add a pinch of salt and pepper, or a dash of red pepper flakes for extra heat. This soup tastes even better the next day, as the flavors have more time to meld. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
