For a richer flavor, consider using heavy cream in place of some of the milk. Adjust the amount of vegetables and salmon to your preference. Feel free to add other vegetables such as celery or leeks. If you don't have cooked salmon on hand, you can use canned salmon (drained) or quickly poach a fresh salmon fillet. A pinch of red pepper flakes can add a pleasant hint of spice. Fresh dill is a great substitute if you don't have dried dill available. Use about 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh dill.
