Follow The Directions

01

Step
2 mins

Prepare the Okra: In a shallow dish, beat the egg lightly. Gently stir in the sliced okra until well coated. (2 minutes)

02

Step
1 mins

Bread the Okra: In a gallon-size resealable plastic bag, combine the cornmeal and flour. Add about 5 slices of the okra to the bag, seal it tightly, and shake well until the okra is evenly coated. Remove the breaded okra and place it on a plate. Repeat with the remaining okra slices. (10 minutes)

03

Step
10 mins

Air Fry the Okra: Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place half of the breaded okra slices in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. Spray generously with cooking spray. (2 minutes)

04

Step
5 mins

Cook the First Batch: Air fry for 4 minutes. Shake the basket to redistribute the okra, then mist with cooking spray again. Cook for an additional 4 minutes. Shake the basket one last time and cook for a final 2 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. (10 minutes)

05

Step
2 mins

Season and Repeat: Remove the fried okra from the basket and season immediately with salt to taste. Repeat the process with the remaining breaded okra slices. (12 minutes)

For an extra crispy result, consider double-breading the okra. After the initial egg wash and cornmeal coating, dip the okra back into the egg and then back into the cornmeal mixture before air frying.
Experiment with different seasonings in your cornmeal mixture. A pinch of cayenne pepper, garlic powder, or smoked paprika can add a delightful kick.
Serve immediately for the best texture. If you need to keep the okra warm, place it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees F (95 degrees C) on a wire rack.
