For a richer flavor, use brown butter. Simply melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, swirling occasionally, until it turns a nutty brown color. Let it cool slightly before using. If you don't have fresh cranberries, frozen cranberries (thawed and patted dry) work well. You can also use dried cranberries, but reduce the amount to 1/2 cup as they are more concentrated. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
