Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9x13-inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

02

Step

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, milk, eggs, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt until just combined. Gradually pour in the melted and cooled butter, mixing until fully incorporated. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. (10 minutes)

03

Step

In a separate bowl, whisk together the packed brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and ground cinnamon for the topping. Using a pastry blender or your fingertips, cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the cake batter. Use a knife to swirl the topping into the batter, creating beautiful cinnamon ribbons. (15 minutes)

04

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs clinging to it. (35 minutes)

05

Step

While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Once the cake is slightly cooled, drizzle the glaze evenly over the top. (5 minutes)

For an extra touch of flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon swirl topping.
To prevent the topping from sinking during baking, chill the prepared coffee cake in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes before placing it in the oven.
The coffee cake is best served warm, but it can also be enjoyed at room temperature. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

The glaze is the perfect finishing touch. It's not too sweet and adds just the right amount of moisture.
