Follow The Directions

01

Step

Chill a martini glass or coupe. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

03

Step

Add bourbon, sweet vermouth, and Campari to the shaker.

04

Step

Stir gently for 20-30 seconds until well-chilled. (1 minute)

05

Step

Strain into the chilled glass.

06

Step

Garnish with a lemon twist, expressing the oils over the drink before dropping it in.

Experiment with different bourbons to find your preferred flavor profile. A higher-proof bourbon can stand up well to the other ingredients.
For a bolder flavor, try using a slightly more assertive sweet vermouth.
If you prefer a less intense drink, serve it on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass. This will also slow down the dilution.
Consider using an orange twist instead of lemon for a slightly different citrus note.
For an elegant touch, flame the orange peel over the drink before dropping it in as a garnish, releasing its aromatic oils.

I used a different brand of Campari, and it definitely changed the flavor. Worth experimenting to find what you like!

So much better than a Negroni, in my opinion. The whiskey makes all the difference.

Love the suggestion to use a high-rye bourbon. Gave it a great spicy kick!

I found it a bit too bitter at first, but adjusting the vermouth helped a lot. Thanks for the tip!
